Crusaders rugby fans have every reason to know their stuff, and it's no accident they have sold out Orangetheory Stadium for Sunday's Super Rugby Aotearoa game with the Highlanders.
It's simple, win and another trophy will repose in the Crusaders' already burgeoning trophy cabinet.
A loss to the Hurricanes two weeks ago and a win over the Chiefs in Hamilton last weekend have set the scene for the Crusaders to wrap it all up in their final home game. That would make next weekend's Blues games inconsequential in the overall scheme of things.
Crusaders captain and hooker Codie Taylor knows the Highlanders cannot be taken lightly and sees their driving maul as a key asset that will need to be contained.
That maul has been a productive try-scoring avenue for his opposing hooker Ash Dixon and Taylor admitted having been impressed with Dixon's play this year.
"You can't take anything away from the Highlanders. They hang in there until the end, they're a bloody talented side, and they always show you things you haven't seen before," he said.
Coach Scott Robertson said the Crusaders' approach during the week had been to view the game as a final.
"We've played a lot of finals. We understand what's required and the intensity that's needed. This week, after getting beat at home a couple of weeks ago, it's fresh in our mind, and we understand this is a final for us," he said.
Highlanders coach Aaron Mauger said the Highlanders were going into the game determined to improve on areas from last weekend's game against the Blues.
"We have to be more physical, have more control in our game and more intent all round," he said.
Mauger said there was still plenty of incentive for the side and there had been a massive improvement in his side across the season.
"We are looking to take a step forward and finish on a good note with these last two games," he said.
Conceding the advantage line to the Blues had been a factor in what he called 'passive defence'.
"We can't afford to be smacked on the nose before we start bringing our game. That has been the message this week – taking our game to the Crusaders from minute one," he said.
