It was a long way from Central Otago to becoming a Rugby World Cup champion for All Blacks lock Murray Pierce. The Wellington policeman, at the time, was a key performer in the All Blacks team of the era, and along with fellow policeman John Gallagher was a well-known face of the All Blacks, on the beat, in the Capital.
Pierce played 26 Tests between 1984-90, and appeared in 28 other All Blacks games.
