Among the highlights of completing the All Blacks legends series for allbacks.com was having the last interview with the late Sir Colin Meads, one of the most dominant figures in New Zealand’s rugby history.
He played 55 Tests, made 133 appearances and scored 28 tries for the All Blacks around the rugby world. With 139 games for his beloved King Country, his first-class career lasted from 1955-1973.
An outstanding servant of the game as a player, coach and administrator, he also found time to get involved in putting his name to charity work and contributed to his community.
A statue in his honour now stands in Te Kuiti as a reminder to his achievements in rugby and life.
